Women Onside is excited to announce the appointment of Adelaide United Director of Football and former Socceroo Bruce Djite to its board of directors.
Women Onside Chair Maria Berry welcomed Mr Djite as an excellent addition to the board. “As a former professional player in Australia and overseas Bruce brings a wealth of understanding of the Australian football landscape. He is currently involved in the management of the professional game in Australia, including the W-League, and he has been actively involved in initiatives supporting social change and young people”, Maria said.
Mr Djite said that he is looking forward to the role. “I am delighted to be appointed a director of Women Onside. It is clear that the next leg of exponential growth in the game, both locally and globally, will come from the increased participation of women and the continued professionalisation of women’s football. I firmly believe that this cannot be done unless women are treated as equals both on and off the field and that requires the entrenchment of women in all elements of the game. I hope to play a small part in helping to create opportunities that will eventually see women in football everywhere”.
