Former top referee and FIFA’s current Senior Manager of Refereeing Kari Seitz talks about the opportunities and challenges for women referees.
Women Onside is pleased to bring another leading international figure to Australian audiences in our fourth public webinar.
For the first time ever a leading FIFA referees manager will talk directly to the Australian refereeing community on the opportunities and challenges for women referees.
Kari Seitz will tell the story of her personal journey, including what it is like to referee at major events. She will then discuss some of the bigger issues she deals with in her role of FIFA Senior Manager of Refereeing, including:
- the barriers for women referees and how to overcome them;
- the professionalisation of women’s football and how that is impacting on refereeing; and
- the advice she would give to developing referees.
Kari will provide her personal insight both as a referee and now in her role of leading referees. Kari has overcome many of the challenges which face women referees and will share her experience to inspire and advise other women and girls as referees.
Participants in this live webinar will have the chance to ask questions and respond to comments.
The audiences for this webinar are:
- women and girls who are referees in Australia from community to elite;
- key decision makers in refereeing, including referee educators and coaches, referee branch officials;
- anyone interested in refereeing;
- anyone interested in understanding referees.

Dear colleagues,
it is possible to watch the webinar online afterwards. We are very curious about the insights that Kari has to offer. In the Netherlands we are busy recruiting and developing female referees.
